WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE CONVENTION CHAIR

Macau 2006
Ur Story Makes History

Macau Toastmasters is honoured and privileged to host the Toastmasters International District 80 Semi-annual Convention for the first time ever in Macau.

The theme of our convention is ‘Ur Story Makes History’.  Everyone has a story and, like a multi-faceted gem, an individual’s diverse characteristics can be fully expressed through those stories – which can, in turn, inspire and enrich lives.   Macau is a unique city of colourful history going back four hundred years.  Today it has many recognized World Heritage sites that provide the finest backdrop for each delegate to embark on a fantastic journey.  During that journey you will create and refresh friendships, ideas, values and most importantly - memories.

Macau Toastmasters was chartered in December, 2003 with 25 founding members, to provide the opportunity to improve effective communication and leadership skills.  As a young club, we are privileged to receive tremendous support from our sister clubs in Hong Kong, district officers, leaders in Singapore and Thailand.  Such support reflects the true spirit of toastmasters.

Special guest of honour, Mr. Johnny Uy, the International President of Toastmasters International will be joined by  Ed Tate, year 2000 World’s Champion of Public Speaking;  Francis Kong, co-founder of INSPIRE leadership from the Philippines along with distinguished speakers and workshop leaders from the region.   Plus, star speakers will compete for District 80’s 2006 Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contests and the Mandarin Humorous Speech Contest (Asia Cup Challenge).

The organizing committee of Macau 2006 is excited to be host to fellow toastmasters and friends from all over the world.  We have pledged to put together a fun-filled program for you all!
